The Venue

Is dinner available on arrival Sunday? 

No, dinner is not prepared because people arrive over many hours. You’ll need to bring a sandwich or walk into Street (about 20 minutes) to eat.

Do I need to bring anything with me for the accommodation?

Towels and toiletries and not provided so make sure you bring your own. Remember, this is a school, not a hotel.

Is Millfield open to students during EdYOUfest?

There may be students staying as part of other courses taking place on campus at the same time as EdYOUfest. They will be supervised by their own team of staff. Please ensure you do not take any photos of anyone under 18 during your stay.

Is there accommodation on campus?

Yes, accommodation is in boarding houses on campus. There are some single ensuite rooms and these will be allocated as people book. Other rooms have basins and there are shared bathrooms on each floor. Each house has a kitchen where you will be able to make tea and coffee, there is also a common room equipped with sofas and TV. During your stay, there will be a member of Millfield staff staying in the house. They will inform you of emergency procedures and be able to answer any questions you have. Please note we do not provide towels or toiletries so you will need to bring these with you. All bed linen is provided.

Can we eat on campus?

Yes, all meals are provided from breakfast on Monday 19th August to breakfast on Thursday 22nd August. Meals are served in the dining room. There will be no catering available on Sunday 18th August so you will need to either bring something with you or go into Street for a meal. Indicative meal times are: Breakfast: 08:15 (TBC) Lunch: 13:00 Dinner: 18:00 There is a choice of options including vegetarian and vegan dishes and we are able to cater for all dietary requirements. Please ensure that you let us know any specific requirements before you arrive. Tea and coffee will also be available during the day.

Will EdYOUfest be the only group present on campus?

It is likely that we will have other groups staying at the same time. They will have different accommodation and will not use the same facilities (apart from the dining room) as EdYOUfest. Some groups may be children, Millfield takes safeguarding of children very seriously and we request that you refrain from taking photographs with any children included. Please wear your EdYOUfest lanyard and name badge at all times so you can be identified as part of the EdYOUfest group.

Can I smoke on Campus?

Millfield is a non-smoking environment and smoking on campus (including accommodation) is strictly forbidden. If you wish to smoke, you need to go outside of the gates. Members of the Enterprises team will be able to direct you to a suitable place.

The Location

Where’s the nearest airport?

Bristol is the nearest airport, it’s about an hour from Millfield. If you fly to Bristol as a group, taxis may be the best way to reach Millfield. You can pre-book here: www.taxisbristolairport.co.uk
Alternatively, you can take the Bristol Flyer from outside the airport to Bristol Temple Meads station and then catch the 376 bus to Street.

Will airport transfers be provided on Sunday 18th August?

We may be able to help with transfers from Heathrow airport depending on the time of your flight. Please send details of your flight (number and arrival time) edyoufest@millfieldschool.com .

Will there be help with transfers when I leave?

Millfield Enterprises staff will be able to help you organise a taxi or direct you to bus routes. If you are travelling in a group and want to arrange a minibus or coach, we can assist you to book something. This will be at your own expense and please raise this at the start of the conference as transport gets booked up quickly.

How can I get to Millfield by rail?

The closest train stations are Castle Cary (about an hour by bus). Trains to Castle Cary go from Paddington and take a little more than 2 hours.

What’s the nearest town?

Millfield School is in the small town of Street, Somerset.

The Event

Do participants receive certificates?

Yes, the number of sessions you attend will be stated on the certificates.

Do presenters receive certificates?

Yes, presenters receive certificates which state that they presented and the title of their workshop(s).

Are there evening activities?

Yes, Millfield arrange social events. More details will be available closer to the event.

Can I pay when I arrive?

No, unfortunately, all payments must be completed before the event and for the booking to be registered.

How many workshops and plenaries are there?

There are 3 plenary sessions, one each working day and then 90 minute workshops are timetabled to enable participants to attend as many as possible. Workshops take place before and after lunch. How can I get a letter of invitation for a visa?

Please send a scanned copy of your passport details (ID page) along with proof that you have paid for the conference to  edyoufest@millfieldschool.com. The letter will be scanned and emailed to you, if you require the original to be posted, please send your postal address. There may be an additional charge for letters sent by courier. If you are applying on behalf of a group, please send all requests at one time. Please ensure you allow a minimum of two weeks for requests to be processed.
